pregnancy miscellany
This week marks my 23rd week of pregnancy. You know what that means! Only one more week until the big V (viability, for those who have female body parts on the brain!)!
Here is a belly shot from today:
I have finally gotten over my bad cold! Yes, my nose is still runny, but that's nothing new for me. I'm able to breathe again, so that's a definite improvement.
Overall I'm feeling really great. The worst thing, which isn't even awful, is that it's hard for me to get comfortable at night. The Snoogle and I have become regular bed partners. I find it comfortable as a pillow, and convenient for the between-the-knees pillow.
But... it doesn't stop me from rolling onto my back. And on my back is not the position I should be sleeping in. I wake up often in the middle of the night only to realize I'm on my back, and then I pick a side. I usually pick my left (which is the side I always slept on pre-pregnancy), but now it's not always comfortable. So I'll switch to the right. And so on and so forth, all night long.
I think I'm going to have to bust out the Utterly Yours pregnancy pillow that my friend sent me.
And I'll use the Utterly Yours in conjunction with the Snoogle. Pregnancy pillow overload, you say? You might be right. But perhaps it will help keep me on my side.
Buster has already complained about the Snoogle and it's aid in the decline of our intimacy. It's tough to work around that thing. So I just don't. Bad wife, I know. And now that I'm going to add another pillow into the mix... there is no hope for Buster.
We should have gotten a king-size bed.
___________
On Thursday, I have my fetal echocardiogram. This was recommended to me because my brother passed away from a congenital heart defect.
To say I'm not nervous would be a lie. I'm a bit nervous. But, I've heard several reassuring stories from many ladies, so I truly think everything will be ok. It's just so difficult to not be nervous.
___________
I also scheduled my 3D ultrasound for the end of October. I'll be about 28 1/2 weeks along at that point, so hopefully we'll get some good photos. My baby shower is the weekend following, so if I get a good face shot of Henry, I'll frame it and display it at the shower (even though Buster thinks this is creepy).
___________
I've been meaning to do a nursery post for some time now... perhaps I will get to that soon! Buster has already painted the nursery (gray and white), and I hope to pick up our furniture this weekend!

Yay for no more cold :D
ReplyDeleteAnd I must say, pregnancy def looks gorgeous on you! Your bump is so beautiful :)
And hey, whatever ya gotta do to get comfortable at night... do it. It's only going to get worse.
What a great pic! Hoping the test on Thursday goes well!!
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful! I'm turning 23 weeks tomorrow. I hear ya on the sleeping. I have the snoogle but I find the head part of it is not as comfy as my own pillow so sometimes I wedge that sucker in there. Fortunately we do have a king bed but I feel miles away from hubby. Let us know how the Utterly Yours product works out!! Looking forward to celebrating the big V next week. :)
ReplyDeleteYou look great :) Hope the test goes well on Thursday.
ReplyDeleteyou look amazing xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou're very supermodelish! Great shot! Seems like you have a bunch of energy now and just getting tons of things done!
ReplyDeleteI think we decided not to do 3D photos, but I have to admit I am curious to find out what she looks like. Might save the money (spending so much money right now) and be surprised. I can't wait to see Henry's though, you might convince me. Have you thought about doing maternity photography?
i rocked the snoggle + a wedge combo and it was fantastic.. but yes... i kind of wished we'd had a king at the time. you look great and yay for almost 24 weeks!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got over the cold.
ReplyDeleteBummer that you are having trouble staying off your back when you sleep. I never had that issue, but from the other comments it sounds like the combination of the wedge and the snoggle will work.
I kind of agree with Buster, those 3D ultrasounds really creep me out. But, if you like the idea, I think you should go for it. It's your shower, after all!
You and I are twinsies.
ReplyDeleteI always wake up on my back because my hips get sore. I turn over, but the boobs are in the way when I sleep on my side. I have a regular body pillow but I need something better under my tummy I think.
My doctors are onthe fence about us doing a fetal echo. My sis-in-law has a heart defect and one doctor says it can't hurt and another says that there is no reason to worry about it right now as there is nothing to be done until baby is older. I would rather not go through any extra tests, which is weird for me.
I love that picture and am so excited that we are only about a week apart!
those are the two pillows i have! :) I have mostly been using the snuggle though.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI used to get so mad at people who told me to get as much sleep as possible while pregnant because "once he's here, you'll never sleep again" - sleep during pregnancy was nearly impossible! And you WILL sleep again when he's here. Eventually. LOL
So happy for you!!
You look gorgeous!!! Ugh - pregnancy sleep. The worst! I had a mountain of pillows surrounding me during pregnancy, it's the only way to get through it... Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable!
ReplyDeleteAck! I'm blinded by the cuteness of you and your bump!
ReplyDeleteThe snoogle and I have been friends since Easter and I think my back would have started hurting long before this without it. I put two pillows in the top part of the "C" and another pillow under my side and sleep on my back for a little while every night. Usually I end up on my left side, which is "best". No numbness or dizziness yet from the back sleeping.
And tell Buster the "C" shape of the snoogle stands for Cock block.
"And tell Buster the "C" shape of the snoogle stands for Cock block" LOL.
ReplyDeleteYou are too beautiful and the baby bump looks fan-freaking-tastic.:)
You look amazing, Kara. So happy for you!!
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous Kara! Have to say though, I'm with Buster - 3D ultrasounds are a little creepy! ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the baby bump picture! You look great! I thought 20 wks was the "viability" mark. But, really, what do I know. I hate to say it but I think the 3D pics are creepy too. My husband likes them though. Im dying to see the baby nursery. You're such a fashionista.. I bet it looks fab! A fab baby nursery. I am due in 2 weeks, 2 days. I CANT WAIT!
