Baby names.

"Then we tried to name our babies
But we forgot all the names that
The names we used to know"

Right now, Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) by Arcade Fire is playing on my Pandora. The above quoted lyrics make me sad and wistful of that time when I knew exactly what I wanted to name my future babies. I signed up at, made my list, and was excited to be able to use it someday soon.

Fast-forward to today. I have forgotten so many of the names I once chose. I will think of a good one, and then I lose it. There's really no sense in my hanging on to the names at this point.

Perhaps someday.

  1. I do the same thing. I think we all do.

  2. This post made me sad - for you, and everyone who's had to put their list aside, or who forgot about their list because it wasn't needed. Mine's dusty (if that's possible on aniPhone) but I can't bring myself to delete it. One day we'll need it... Just like you'll need yours :)

  3. We've always had four names picked out - two girls, two boys. It kills me knowing that these imaginary children running around with the Best Names Ever may not actually ever be here. :-\

  4. I know that song well - it makes me wistful as well. That whole album kind of hits home, really. You'll get to name your baby someday, I just know it. And you'll give him or her a super awesome kick ass name. :)

  5. Please don't be sad. I had chosen names too and my journey was so long that they changed a few times by the time I needed them. When you do get pregnant, you will have the joy of deciding of many joys yet to come for you. Good luck. ICLW #156

  6. Hi! Visiting from ICLW. I know what you mean. I too have picked out names. It's sad, but I agree with Meggola, you will give him/her "super awesome kick ass name" when the time comes. Hope you cheer up. Good luck on your journey!

  7. (((HUGS))) You will need some great names someday SOON! <3

  8. Sorry Kara. I know exactly what you're talking about. Its hard not to mentally give up but keep the faith alive (and when you can't we, your bloggy friends, will keep it for you!)

  9. We picked names out, or should I say, we agreed on names, and they have been used.
We didn't say anything. We will still use those names (hopefully). Fuck other people's confusion.

With some people they have names picked out but when they see the baby they choose something different. One can never predict . . .
