Positivity, a giveaway, couponing, and The Black Swan

Today, I vow to stop being sad. I have mourned the pregnancy(ies) that have never happened, I have mourned for the baby we have yet to make. I have mourned the absence of a compassionate, caring doctor. Now, I'm done.

Buster tries to get me to focus on the good. It's really difficult for me, though. I'm a glass half-empty kind of girl. I think I need to buy a self-help book. Something to really get me looking in the right direction.

After a long talk yesterday, Buster and I are postponing IVF until next summer. We want to get some credit cards and a car loan paid off before we take on $10k+ more in debt. Which, I think everyone can agree, is a wise decision. I know it's a wise decision. I still took it hard. I cried, a lot. But I feel at peace with that decision now.

No more stressing about TTC, for a while at least. Yes, we are going to continue to try naturally, and maybe we'll get a miracle. But, if not, I won't be disappointed because I'm not expecting it.

I am keeping the appointment on Friday with Dr. Sher, because I'm interested to hear what he has to say, especially in regards to someone (like myself) with unexplained infertility. I'm hoping I will know after that appointment if he is the doctor I want to go with. But, like Buster says, we have time. No need to rush to a decision.

So I'm assuming most of you have seen or heard about that Extreme Couponing show on TLC. I've not seen it, but it seems to be a craze, especially on the pregnancy & motherhood forums. I am thinking of foraying into couponing a bit, but I'm a little afraid because I think I have slight hoarding tendencies. I don't want to end up with 45 tubes of toothpaste just because they were on sale! But nonetheless, I'm setting up my printer today and might take a gander at some Walgreens and CVS coupons, and see what I can get for basically nothing.

Since Buster and I decided to pay off some bills prior to IVF, I think it can only help if I could save a few bucks (or more) on our weekly grocery bills!

We (finally) watched Black Swan last night! I've been wanting to see it forever, but we never got around to seeing it in the theater. I loved it! It was creepy, yes. A bit disturbing as well, but lovely all the same. I love Natalie Portman. Ever since I saw her rocking out to the Shins in Garden State, she can do no wrong in my book!

  1. There are so many blogs (unfortunately they're mostly "mommy blogs," but it's manageable) that walk you through coupon matchups each week. I used to do it religiously, every week stocking up on stuff. Husband will NEVER run out of deodorant. Hahaha. But with the IVF and all the other stressors going on, I just don't have the time to keep couponing right now. It's an effort!

I think your plan to hold off on IVF for awhile sounds good. I hope you are able to truly relax over the next year to fully prepare for what is to come :)

  2. My mom gave me a book called 'Fertility Wisdom' that touches on some Easter Medicine topics that you might want to check into while you're doing your IVF break. If my IVF doesn't work, I'm going to try it for a few months while saving up for another. Also, my friend sugested that I read a book called 'Unstuck'. She deals with depression, but she said that it is really for anyone who needs to re-evaluate their mindset. I'm going to give it a try, because infertility is all about finding who you are when you aren't what you want to be. I'm with you...it's a tough battle.

  3. Ooops, I meant "Eastern Medicine", not "Easter Medicine." That makes it sound like I'm suggesting you try an egg hunt and a pound of Peeps. My bad.

  4. ((HUGS)) I love the couponing idea! Great way to save money. :-) Maybe in the meantime you guys can take your supplements, do acupuncture, etc. I'm anxious to hear what Dr. Sher says, too! I hope and pray everyday that you'll get your natural miracle. Oh, and we watched the Black Swan, too! I agree - very weird, but good!

  5. My SiL (brother's wife) has gotten in to couponing. Since they struggle for money b/c they're morons, they have to save where they can so she goes crazy for the coupons.

*HUGS* I think that's a wise decision to wait for IVF until some other bills are paid off. I know it must've been difficult to make though, but you're at peace with it now, and at least you get to try naturally so still have a chance :D

As for Natalie Portman. I like her as an actress, but as a person from some of the interviews she's given..... BLEH.

I hope that your wait for IVF is full of tons of fun things and maybe a few surprises. :hugs:

  7. That's a tough decision - postponing IVF until paying off some bills - but it's smart. Can't wait to hear what Sher says.

And I just watched Black Swan for the first time - loved it!

  8. Can't wait to hear what Dr. Sher says! I think a break is a very good thing though. Being on a break since DH deployed has given me time to just relax.
